Welcome to the New Community and After School Program!

New Community for Children's mission is to support and encourage the academic, social and personal growth of children (grades K through 12) in Washington, DC with a focus on the Shaw neighborhood. As a parent or guardian, you have a critical role in helping your child succeed in and out of school. To help your child reach his or her academic goals, we need your cooperation and participation. We ask that you help us in the following ways…

  1. When registering your child(ren), provide his or her report cards, standardized/assessment test results, progress reports, IEP records and other academic records that will help us assess his or her needs
  2. Provide New Community for Children with additional report cards and other academic records, as they become available, for the time your child(ren) is enrolled in our programs
  3. Participate in monthly parent meetings and Parent Council
  4. Periodically volunteer in NCFC activities
  5. Complete end of year surveys in a timely manner

As the African proverb says, "it takes a village to raise a child." Together we can do this! I hope your experience at New Community for Children is a rewarding and positive time for you and your child. Thank you for choosing us.

New Community for Children  helped me understand the purpose of hard-work and determination. If it wasn't for all the help from the staff I probably wouldn't be attended  a top-tier college and competing with the top students  in the country.
